ZEN-STYLE TILE GROWS IN BEAUTY—AND DIMENSION
Walker Zanger Debuts The World’s Largest Decorative Tile Collection
Sylmar, Calif., September 6, 2007—Sinuous yet majestic, the long and timeless lines of the Zen motif impart a feeling of serenity. Bringing this feeling to ceramic tile, however, has been limited by  technology: it has simply been impossible to create an art tile that conveys such impressive linearity, due to basic restrictions of size. Walker Zanger is now taking ceramic tile—and this eastern motif—to new levels with the introduction of the Mizu Umi line, featuring ground-breaking tiles that are 24 inches long.
Mizu Umi combines the breathtaking crackle glazes found in Walker Zanger’s original Mizu Collection but is now available in sizes never seen before in decorative tile. Mizu, which is Japanese for “water,” more than lives up to its name with its deep crackle glaze creating the effect of pooling water. Umi, meaning “big wave” in Japanese, encapsulates the sheer size and architectural breadth of the new line.
Mizu Umi invites the homeowner to create beauty over a larger area and tell a new story in tile surfaces. The industry-first dimensions of the Mizu Umi not only set the collection apart from other tiles in the category they also allow the homeowner to apply the product to any room of the home.
Walker Zanger was able to overcome the manufacturing hurdles to create the Mizu Umi line by employing patented technology which allows tiles of this scope to properly kiln bake, while maintaining both their design and their structural integrity.
Taking its cues from both the Zen and Spa styles, Mizu Umi can be used as a decorative accent for walls throughout the home. Available in four crackle glazed colors—Bamboo, Sea, Tea, and Rice Paper—Mizu Umi is also available in four sizes: 24” x 1,” 24” x 2,” 24” x 3,” and 24” x 4.” With their elegant, soaring lines, Mizu Umi transcends the traditional Zen style, creating a dramatic twist to surfaces in the home.
