THREE NEW PORCELAIN COLLECTIONS BRING EXOTIC FLAIR
Walker Zanger Pioneers Digital Glazing Technology that Advances Trend of Porcelain Tile Mimicking other Materials

SYLMAR, Calif., Nov. 9, 2011— Employing a breakthrough application of cutting-edge digital glazing technology, Walker Zanger offers a new collection of artistic surfaces that will empower architects worldwide with exotic-looking materials that provide the durability of porcelain. Designed for residential and commercial spaces alike, the tiles mimic end-grain wood, quartzite, and French limestone with uncanny fidelity, yet offer the durability and value that only ceramics can impart.

The new Pietre di Borgogna, Walks and Wood Age Collections by Walker Zanger are the perfect marriage of technology and artistry. These durable tile collections are well suited for indoor or outdoor use in both residential and commercial spaces, and truly advance the trend of porcelain mimicking other materials.

To achieve such a realistic likeness to other materials, Walker Zanger uses a cutting-edge glazing process. "Similar to an inkjet printer, this technique employs digitally controlled jets," says Walker Zanger Executive Creative Director Jared Becker. "The jets apply precisely-controlled miniature droplets of glaze to the tile at such high definition, it creates the impression of another material with a level of realism that must be seen to be appreciated."

The new Walker Zanger porcelain collections include:

Pietre di Borgogna captures the look of French limestone, a material that has inspired architects for centuries.

  • Color profiles include Oro, Sabbia and Terre
  • Available with the look of Honed and Rustic finishes
  • Perfectly suited to heavy-duty applications
Walks mimics natural quarried quartzite, with its subtle shading and textured finish.

  • Tiles are 12– by 24– by 3/8-inches
  • Tremendous variation in the pattern
Wood Age, as its name implies, captures the character and depth of end-grain wood, replete with concentric rings and graining seen in the cross section of a tree trunk.
  • Available in 6– by 24-inch and 9– by 36-inch tiles
  • Colors from light to dark include Marrow, Heartwood, Ring and Cortex
  • Because it is porcelain, Wood Age boasts durability and low maintenance not available with the very material it mimics
