Q: What first attracted you to Walker Zanger, and how has it become a key resource for your projects?

A: I was first attracted to Walker Zanger because of their superior customer service and the wide variety of high-quality products. But it was their patience, personal care, and knowledgeable staff that supported and guided me when I started my own business, that locked in our (now) long-time relationship. Their enthusiastic eagerness to serve and support the design community is unmatched.

Q: Can you share your experience with the customer service and support at the North Hills showroom?

A: I have been working with the same incredible rep from the North Hills showroom for over 10 years. My experience in the showroom is always consistently superb. The staff’s knowledge about the product and construction allows me to “lean” on their expertise with trust. I never have to worry about specifying materials from Walker Zanger, and that comfort is translated to my clients, which in turn creates trust with them and reduces stress for everyone. The customer service is always reliable and responsive.

Q: How does seeing slabs and tiles in person impact your design decisions?

A: It’s virtually impossible to select any finish materials without seeing them in person. I must see the entire slab to understand how the veining and energy move throughout the stone, and I also need to check the color against other finishes already selected – live samples are imperative. Typically, if I am specifying a stone to be a focal point, I will start with that selection. Everything else after that will be coordinated with it. If I’m going for a neutral monochromatic look, I’ll select a material that can be fabricated and manipulated to add dramatic texture without being distracting to the overall space. Again, stone is usually where we begin.

Q: What current design trends excite you most when it comes to stone and tile?

A: Current design trends that excite me these days are the variety in size, thickness, texture, and materiality, especially as it relates to fabrication and installation. I love that marble and quartzite are being manipulated in new creative ways that allow stone installations to truly sing. With more – and better – options in porcelain, cladding now provides even more expanded possibilities for drama and elegance.

Q: Are there any products that caught your eye from your latest visit to Walker Zanger that you plan on using for an upcoming project?

A: Besides the stunning and classic LUXE award-winning Accent Bleu collection, what caught my eye during my last visit to Walker Zanger were the finishes – especially on the flooring tile. Matte finishes with muted soft tones in greens and greys allow me to create spaces that feel elevated, classic, yet modern. I always love adding a touch of soft natural tones to ground the entire space without becoming too busy, but it has been difficult to find anything truly new until now.
