For Meredith Beregovski, founder and lead designer of Georgia Street Design, great design begins with great materials. Known for creating stylish, layered interiors that blend function with bold character, Meredith believes that a beautifully chosen slab can anchor an entire space. We caught up with Meredith to talk about how she uses the Walker Zanger Charlotte showroom to kick off her creative process, what’s trending in Charlotte design, and why seeing stone in person is essential to her work.
“You don’t have to leave the city to find a slab, you can find the most beautiful stone you can possibly imagine right here underneath this roof.” – Meredith Beregovski on working with Walker Zanger

Q: What first attracted you to Walker Zanger and how has it become a key resource for your projects?
A: I’ve been working with Walker Zanger for years, and it’s truly become my “home” for sourcing stone and tile. I was first drawn to the showroom’s design, knowing I’d always find something unique – no matter the style of the client I was working with.
What sets Walker Zanger apart is its beautiful, light-filled showroom that feels welcoming, offering a diverse range of products to suit various styles and budgets.

Q: How would you describe your experience shopping for stone and tile in person at Walker Zanger?
A: I never purchase stone without seeing it in person. Photos often capture pigments in the stone that aren’t as noticeable in person, and they can sometimes make the stone look darker than it actually is. Shopping for stone in person is such a special part of the process because no two lots are the same. The connection you make with the stone when you’re standing in front of it just can’t be replicated online.

Q: What trends or materials are you most excited about right now in interior design? Were there any particular pieces or collections at Walker Zanger that really caught your eye?
A: I have been drawn to soapstone for years– and I love how it is currently being used with lighter cabinet colors, with saturation. Walker Zanger unquestionably offers the best selection of soapstone—and all natural stone, for that matter. The collection is curated with a discerning eye, which leads to the most unique selection of materials. I was particularly captivated by the new black and white checkerboard marble in the tile showroom.
Designing a kitchen, bathroom, or whole home often begins with one simple moment of inspiration, and Meredith knows just where to find it. “It’s a really fun experience to come here, walk around, and start your kitchen design from this showroom, and build upon it with cabinet colours, and that sort of thing,” she shares. Meredith’s approach reflects a shift toward depth, texture, and individuality.
